
Pocket siren is a next-generation 5G broadcasting solution (5G Broadcast) developed under the leadership of Levira. The project focuses on delivering public emergency alerts in a new and innovative way.
The Pocket siren project is led by the Ministry of the Interior, the Rescue Board, the Defence Forces, the Emergency Response Centre, the Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority, the Information and Communication Technology Center of the Ministry of the Interior, the State Infocommunication Foundation, and the Government Office of Estonia.
Technological development and testing are carried out by Levira, TalTech, Tredess, and Nakolos.
The project is funded by the European Union Cohesion Policy 2021–2027 and is coordinated by the Strategy Office of the Government Office of Estonia.
The aim of the project is to introduce and test the 5G Broadcast technology for public alerting, offering a fast and reliable communication channel to inform the population during emergency situations.
The project will run until the end of 2026.
